Why There’s No BBQ on Board Latchi Queen
Why There’s No BBQ on Board Latchi Queen
If you’ve looked at boat trips leaving Latchi harbour, you’ll have noticed most of them make a point of the onboard barbecue. We don’t run one – not at lunchtime, not at any point in the day. That’s a question we get asked often enough that it’s worth answering properly, because it isn’t something we forgot to add. It’s a decision we made on purpose, and most of our guests tell us afterwards they’re glad we did.
Here’s the thinking behind it.
A choice, not a missing feature
A barbecue at sea sounds appealing on paper. In practice, on a hot day off the Akamas coast, a full cooked meal in the middle of the trip changes the shape of your day – and not always for the better. We’d rather give you a lighter, simpler day on the water, and let the boat itself be the reason you remember the trip. So instead of building the day around a meal, we built it around the things people actually come out here for: clear water, swim stops, room to relax, and a comfortable ride there and back.
So what about food and drink?
You’re welcome to bring your own. Pack what suits you and your family – light snacks, fruit, sandwiches, plenty of water – and enjoy it whenever you like through the day rather than waiting for a set mealtime. We’d just ask you to keep it simple and take any rubbish back off the boat with you when we return. It’s a small thing that gives you a lot of freedom: nobody’s eating to a fixed menu or timetable, and you’re never paying for food you didn’t want in the first place.
More time for the things you came for
With no meal service eating into the day, the time goes where it should.
There’s a waterslide off the deck, which is the first thing most kids – and a fair few adults – head for at every swim stop. We make sure it’s used safely and supervised, so it works for younger children and older ones alike.
The swim stops along the Akamas coast and at the Blue Lagoon are the heart of the trip. Clear, calm water, time to actually get in and enjoy it, and a boat set up so getting in and out of the water is easy for all ages.
What “the most modern boat in the harbour” means in practice
It’s an easy line to put in an advert, so here’s what it actually means for your day:
- A smoother, more comfortable ride. A newer hull handles the open stretches and a choppier afternoon better, so the journey out and back is part of the enjoyment rather than something to endure.
- More usable deck space and shade. Room to find a spot in the sun or out of it, without feeling packed in.
- Clean, well-kept facilities that stay that way through the day.
“Modern” should mean you’re more comfortable, not just that the boat is newer. That’s the part we care about.
Is this the right boat trip from latchi – for you?
We think it’s a strong choice if you want a relaxed, easygoing day on the water with good swimming, a comfortable ride, and the freedom to handle lunch your own way. If a sit-down barbecue lunch is the specific thing you’re after, there are boats in the harbour built around that, and they’ll suit you better. We’d rather you have the day you’re hoping for than book the wrong trip.
